don't fret too much. I have no room to speak about updating

I've kind of let this place go dead. But that's about to change!

As I mentioned recently, i've started my own business. One of the things I want to do with that business is get some of my work published, and I plan to start with Inhumation (just self publishing at kinko's for now, but you have to start somewhere). So the next chapter is underway! I plan to do the whole chapter and then bulk upload it, so it won't be up for a while, but to wet your appetites (assuming anyone still cares), here's a costume sketch, page 1 and the rough for page 2. I'll be posting pages and roughs and such here, so feel free to critique and point out if you think anything doesn't look right.




I don't know if I'm happy with those buildings in the bg of panel 1, I might have to redo them.

well, i did work for the department of redundancy department.

I used to be their main poster boy that showed everyone how well their good work was being done while they were working.

My accomplishments for today: Rough and partial inks for page 3.

I want to go straight to having ADM done completely on the computer.

My only problem is I suck at measuring the panel sizes, so some will be way too big or some will be way too small.

How do you create your panels? Do you have a separate file for each one and piece them together or do you do each page as a single file and draw in the panels?

I'd say single file. Because my panels can alter each page.

I guess my main problem is just getting the height of all the panels to be the proper size, the width is not a problem because those can vary.

I usually sketch out on a piece of paper just a small mock up of how I want the page to be laid out and then use Photoshop's guide lines to help me keep track of the size of panels.



I usually do a six panel layout, so I divide the page up into six sections. Even if I'm doing a different layout it still helps me get keep track of how big each panel is when I'm zoomed in or something.

Wow that looks so easy even I can do it.

So how do I get to that mode in Photoshop. Or actually if it's hard to explain I can just show it to Laurel and she'll show me how to do it properly.

It's not hard. Just make sure the Rulers and Guides are visible. If they aren't go to View>Rulers and View>Show>Guides to make sure both are on (may be different depending on what version of PS you're using). Then just click and drag either the top or side ruler to set a guide line.

And colors. That blue stuff will eventually be a background, but I don't feel like drawing a background right now.
